ABOUT GINGERFRED

WESTOVER TRADING ESTATE, LANGPORT.

GingerFred Dance Studio was brought to life by dance professional Louise Barrett in 2013.  

The initial set up of the studio was funded by the Arts Council England and Creative Industries, Somerset County Council.

The studio is situated in the heart of Langport, Somerset and is a sole - purpose, creatively focused studio offering high quality dance and theatre classes all year round.

 

Louise is a professional dance and theatre director and has spent over 21 years in the performing arts industry as a teacher, choreographer and performer. Louise has a First Class dance degree from Bretton Hall, a diploma in choreography from London Contemporary Dance School and a teaching certificate. Following her training Louise danced with Jazz companies here, Japan the USA and Austria.

 

In 2003 guided by Somerset's Take Art, Dance Southwest and the Arts Council Louise formed her own dance company PrettyGood Girl Dance Theatre. Following 3 successful performances at the Place’s Resolution! Festival, London Louise went on write, choreograph and performed in 5 full-length dance theatre productions for national and rural touring - all of which were supported by the Arts Council England.

 

Louise has also carved out an accomplished education and choreography career across the region creating new work with adults, youth and professional theatre companies. Louise was lecturer in dance and theatre at Yeovil college, head of dance

at Prior Park College, Bath and education officer for Pegasus Theatre, Oxford.

 

Louise is also teacher of dance for The Levels Academy Trust - visiting Huish Episcopi primary school weekly during term time.

 

SInce 2014 Louise has been training and teaching Argentine tango - the beginners classes  and private lessons attract participants from all over the county.
